Award for the biggest flower in the world

Juan Pablo Etcheverri’s animation short film A flor mais grande do mundo received the 2007 best screenplay award at the Chicago Short Film Festival.


Presently, the film is being screened at the A Consistência dos Sonhos (The consistency of dreams) exhibition devoted to José Saramago. This exhibition can be visited at Lisbon’s Palacio da Ajuda until July, 27th.

Cans at The Hague

The Hague Shoot-Me Film Festival included this year a special program devoted to the Cans Short Film Festival. After a boat tour of the canals of The Hague on board of the Vlievaart (Stork), assistants were taken to De Besturing for a selection of films from the Galician short film festival Cans and a menu of tapas.

The Hague is the third place where 5th edition Cans short films are screened. Next places to receive the Cans selection are Vigo (July, 8th) and A Coruña's CGAI (July, 14th). After its trip around Galicia, the Cans program is to be screened in Canary Islands’ Festivalito, Lisboa, Madrid and Brussels.

Shoot Me Film Festival and Cans Film Festival are the joint founders of the Anywhere Cinema Association, which I pursuing worldwide cooperation with other festivals showing films at exceptional locations and also facilitating an exchange of programming.

Boost to Galicia - Brazil coproductions

Consorcio Audiovisual de Galicia and ANCINE – Cinema du Brasil unveiled today the two co-productions selected for financial support in the framework of the co-production agreement signed by the two institutions last year in São Paulo.

The selected projects are:

  • O sexo dos anxos by Continental Productions SL (Galicia, 80% participation) and CCFBR Produçoes Audiovisuais LTDA (Brazil, 20%).
  • Entre a dor e a nada MPC & Asociados (50%, Brazil), Ficción Producións SL (30%, Galicia) and Filmes do Tejo (20%, Portugal)
