Last Monday 23rd November, during the closing ceremony of the 7th edition of the Braga International Independent Film Festival BRAGACINE, Galician director Ángel de la Cruz received the best director award for the comedy Los muertos van deprisa. Marta Villar, art director of the film, collected the award on behalf of the awardee, and thanked the jury and the public at the Portuguese Festival for the success and acceptance of all his films in the neighbour country. Marta dedicated the award to the audience on behalf of the director.

Stigmata at Lincoln Center
Adán Aliaga’s Estigmas, produced by Galician IB Cinema, will be among the Spanish feature films to be screened at Spanish Cinema Now!, which is being held from December, 4th to December 24th at New York’s Lincoln Center.
Presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes, the Spanish Film Institute (ICAA), and the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX), Spanish Cinema Now! is one of the Walter Reade Theater’s longest-running series, first presented in October 1992.

Galician HMMA Nomination
Galician Zeltia Montes has been nominated to the Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2009 for the main theme of Ignacio Villar’s Pradolongo. Ms. Montes is included among the September 2009 nominees in the Best New Composer category.

Galician Short Films travel to Romania
Rubén Coca’s Mínimo Común Multiplo, Sam Orti’s The Werepig, Iván Seoane’s O Hospital, Alberto Rodríguez’s Darío e Verónica, and Fernando Cortizo’s Leo will be screened the 17th Edition of the Alter-native International Short Film Festival, to be held in Tîrgu Mureş, at the Romanian Transylvania, from November, 4th to November, 8th.
These films are included in an out-of-competition presentation devoted to Galician short films that will take place on November, 6th at the U.D.T.M. – MADISZ Small Hall.
After the Czech Republic, France, The Netherlands, Croatia and Germany, Spain is this year’s Special Guest.

Martin Sheen & Emilio Estévez in their way after Galician extras
Martin Sheen and his son Emilio Estévez are visiting Santiago de Compostela next November, 4th for the filming on Galician locations of The Way (El Camino), a full feature film about the Saint James Way starring Galician-American Martin Sheen and directed by Emilio Estévez. Filming has been completed in other locations along the French Way like Roncesvalles, Pamplona, Burgos or Leon.
The same day, Sheen and Estévez will join the casting of extras organized by Galician local producer Castelao Produccións.
